Sevagram is an elderly care organization with more than twenty locations and focuses on human-centered healthcare. The Laevo FLEX fits perfectly in this: the exoskeleton supports their caregiver during strenuous tasks, for example when helping residents from their beds into their wheelchairs. The support of the exoskeleton enables them to focus on what they like to do most: caring.
The caregivers at Sevagram have access to a pool of multiple Laevo FLEX exoskeletons. When a caregiver faces back pain, a shared Laevo FLEX is put to work to support the caregiver. Laevo trained Sevagram employees to be exoskeleton experts, to help fit the exoskeleton and support the implementation. Once the back pain is less or gone, some caregivers return the exoskeleton to the pool to support another coworker, while others keep using it for long-term benefits.
Lukje Boersma is a caregiver at Sevagram and faced back pain in the past. This hindered her work during the morning shift, for example when helping residents out of bed. “The exoskeleton helps me to improve my posture and provides sturdiness, it works perfectly during my shift! When I wear the exoskeleton, I do not notice its weight or presence. The FLEX helps me to bend forward, you cannot really do it wrong with the FLEX!”
The effects of the FLEX are clear: happier caregivers and a reduced chance of sick leave.
